On Tai Estate was granted the Grand Award in the Hong Kong Residential (Multiple Buildings) Category of the Quality Building Award 2020, jointly organised by nine leading professional institutions of the building sector in Hong Kong. With its theme of “Transforming Communities ‧ Build with Heart and Care”, the Award recognises the high standard of quality of building projects.

The goal of developing On Tai Estate was to transform part of the barren and disused Anderson Road Quarry into a green and sustainable community. Various sustainability features were implemented, including maintenance-free zero irrigation system, trial on robotics construction, application of 5D Building Information Modelling as the project management tool, and comprehensive greenery installations. The project team joined hands with the local communities in creating community art works made out from quarry machineries and artefacts that reminisced the quarry history and fostered a sense of belonging for the residents.
